Speaker of the Parliament of Finland Maria Lohela, accompanied by a delegation of six, visited Korea on September 10-14.
This is a counter visit to the visit of the speaker of the Korean National Assembly to Finland in 2015. The purpose of the speaker’s visit is was to foster the prospering relationship between Korea and Finland. This year also marks the 100th year of Finnish independence.
Speaker Lohela met with Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon and Speaker Chung Sye-kyun. Ms Lohela also opened a Finnish tourism promotion event Moi Moi workshop, gave a speech in Finnish Health Technology seminar, met alumni of Korean aSSIST and Finnish Aalto universities and met with representatives of Finnish businesses.
Korea is an important partner for Finland in trade, science and culture sectors. Speaker Lohela’s visit continued a string of successful official visits between the two countries. The visit was organized in cooperation with the Embassy of Finland in Korea and the Korean National Assembly.
Speaker Lohela was accompanied by three Members of the Finnish parliament, Ms Susanna Huovinen, Mr Kari Uotila and Mr Hannu Hoskonen.
